Marty D. Success Story

In October 2024, I underwent surgery to address arthritis in my left Carpometacarpal (CMC) joint—the joint at the base of the thumb. Before the procedure, I experienced persistent pain and increasing difficulty gripping objects. After an eight-week recovery period, I was cleared to begin physical therapy. Since my wife was already a patient at Fluid Physio, I chose to go there instead of a traditional hand therapy clinic.

When I started therapy, my hand had minimal mobility and strength, and my left arm was stiff and had lost muscle due to inactivity. The team at Fluid Physio employed various techniques and targeted exercises to help me regain function. I remained diligent with my home exercises between sessions, which accelerated my progress. After about ten visits, we agreed that I had significantly regained grip strength, improved flexibility, and was well on my way to rebuilding my arm strength. I officially "graduated" from Fluid Physio.

In late January, I had a follow-up appointment with my surgeon, who was amazed at my recovery. He remarked that I was six to eight weeks ahead of the typical recovery timeline. Even after completing physical therapy, I knew there was more work to be done to regain full strength, so I continued training at the gym with a personal trainer. Now, just over five months post-surgery, I am lifting nearly as much as I did before and continue to improve my flexibility. Most importantly, the persistent arthritis pain that led me to surgery is gone.

Fluid Physio played a crucial role in my recovery, and I am incredibly grateful for their expertise and support!
