TMJ And Jaw Pain
Temporomandibular joint disease (TMD) is a common issue that restricts natural movements of the jaw, such as opening and chewing. It currently affects over 10 million people in the United States and may also be referenced as temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ).
TMD affects more women than males and is most commonly diagnosed in those aged 20 to 40. It causes a variety of issues, including bad posture, persistent jaw clenching, and poor teeth alignment, as well as fractures and disorders like lockjaw, in which the muscles surrounding the jaw spasm and impede the capacity of the mouth to open.
At Fluid Physio, our physical therapists can help you ease pain, regain normal jaw movement, and lessen daily stress on the jaw. Call us at 609-436-0366 or email us at office@fluidphysio.com to schedule your appointment today.
