Tendonitis

Tendonitis is frequently caused by misuse of the extremities. Athletes, dancers, and runners are more likely to get this injury. A number of tendons in the foot and ankle can become inflamed or damaged. The location of the damaged tendon might influence the amount of pain you feel and the course of treatment required for healing.

You may need to rest and apply ice to the afflicted area before beginning physical therapy, depending on the degree of the inflammation and pain level. Your doctor may also advise a steroid injection to lessen the inflammation or  prescribe an anti-inflammatory pain medication, orthotics, or surgery.

Depending on the injury, tendonitis can take weeks to months to heal. However, without adequate therapy, recovery might be far more difficult.
